Reclaiming the Rested Self: Stillness in a World on Fire

Updated: Jul 1

It’s hard to look away from what’s happening in the world right now. With rising unemployment, political unrest, mounting global conflict, and growing uncertainty in our day-to-day lives, many of us are cycling between burnout and survival mode.We are exhausted. Angry. Grieving. Numb. And yet, we are still expected to carry on.

What if the most radical thing you could do in this moment for the sake of your mind, body and even spirit… was rest?

Rest is not a luxury-it is essential for our survival. It is a form of ancestral defiance. Especially for those of us carrying the weight of multiple systems, rest becomes a portal back to ourselves.

In the face of overwhelm, stillness becomes strategy.

You don’t need to spend hundreds on wellness tools to reclaim rest because often the only requirement is sleeping in or doing nothing at all. But in case you needed some additional ideas of how to rest here are gentle ways to restore your nervous system and reconnect with your center from the space of your own home:

Self-Reiki for Emotional Release:

Place one hand on your heart, the other on your womb or belly. Close your eyes. Breathe deeply. Imagine golden light moving through your hands, softening your tension. Repeat the affirmation: “I am allowed to feel. I am safe to rest.”

Do this for 5–10 minutes a day.

A Calming Tea Ritual:

Create a tea that nourishes your nervous system and clears your energy. I suggest:

    •    Lemon balm (for anxiety + mood)

    •    Holy basil (Tulsi) (for clarity + adrenal support)

    •    Chamomile or lavender (to ease tension)

As it steeps, hold the mug between both hands. Say a prayer, a wish, or nothing at all.

Mindful Walking

Leave your phone behind (or just leave it in your pocket). Walk slowly. Notice the feel of the air, your breath, your steps. Whisper affirmations if you need grounding. Even 10 minutes can shift your state.

This month, I invite you to rest with SRW:

The first 3 members to send us an email stating "I WANT IN" in the subject line will receive a discount code to attend our upcoming Regulating Your Nervous System Through Sound Healing for free!

You don’t have to walk this alone. Below are three prompts to help inspire your resting.

Reflection Prompt:

  1. “What part of me is longing to rest, but doesn’t yet feel safe to?”

  2. “How can I create a small ritual of stillness this week ?”

  3. " If someone I loved was tied like I am...What would I say to them about resting? And why haven't I said that to myself?"

You are healing in a world that rarely slows down. Give yourself the grace you give others!

With love,

Eve (SRW)
